Certified Document Services solution

dsitribution covast blueridge biztalk .netBlueRidge CDS allows organisations to quickly certify and validate large volumes of Acrobat files. PDF documents can be certified using the shared BlueRidge CDS certificate or an organisation certificate. In this case, the certificate authority issues to the organisation a digital certificate, which is stored on a server-based HSM for additional protection.

The credential is accessed by BlueRidge to apply the certifying digital signature. As soon as a PDF file with a certified digital signature is opened in Adobe Reader, the validity of the certificate is automatically validated and a message is displayed that the signature and contents have been validated. PDF files that are secured with
BlueRidge CDS signing carry the highest level of document integrity and verification because the digital
credentials are stored on a cryptographic hardware device. A PDF file signed with BlueRidge CDS carries
the security assurance of the issuing Certification Authority (CA).

Product and hosted solution

D Soft offers BlueRidge CDS as a product and a hosted solution. Both are based on the same technology: our BlueRidge platform. The hosted solution is a professional application that runs as a state-of-the-art ASP service. Our servers are located in a datacenter. In both solutions PDF documents can be certified using the shared BlueRidge CDS certificate or an organisation certificate. The certificates are always stored on a server-based HSM for additional protection. Users can communicate with the BlueRidge CDS via the website, connector or web services SDK.

BlueRidge CDS enables document authors to certify PDF files, which automatically validate using free Adobe Reader 6+. For the validation of long-term validation signatures Adobe Reader 9+ is required. BlueRidge CDS was designed to assure users that the document’s integrity and authenticity are preserved. By adding a BlueRidge CDS signature to a PDF file, organisations can increase this assurance level without requiring recipients to install additional software to determine if the document can be trusted. BlueRidge CDS allows users to create PDF files that clearly certify to recipients that the author’s identity has been verified by a trusted organisation and that the document has not been altered. The BlueRidge CDS solution provides the critical components (Timestamping and OCSP/CRL) to assure recipients of its authenticity. This solution allows organisations to exchange electronic documents in a more secure and reliable way.

Website

Once the user is registered and has an account on BlueRidge CDS he has access to a personal store with his documents. He can upload single or multiple files that need to be certified. The user can also determine the delivery method (for example e-mail, ftp) and signature properties. The website is mainly intended for users who occasionally need to certify PDF documents and it works with prepaid packs.

Web services SDK

The user has access to the web services SDK to implement the communication with the BlueRidge CDS. The web services SDK supports both local and remote certification. In the case of remote certification, the hash is send to the server where it is certified by BlueRidge. The certified hash is then locally embedded in the PDF document without sending the whole document over the Internet.

Connector

The user places the files in an input directory where they are picked up by the connector. The files are certified by BlueRidge CDS and placed in the output or error directory. The connector supports both local and remote certification. If the user has selected remote certification, only the hash will be send to the server where it is certified by BlueRidge. The certified hash is then locally embedded in the PDF document. In short, it allows users to safely certify documents without sending them over the Internet.
